An RSS feed is a type of web feed that automatically pulls content from your favorite blogs or news sites into one easy to read stream.

Hootsuite supports RSS feeds in two different ways: automatic content publishing and content curation.

Let’s say you have a company blog and you want to automatically publish every post to your social channels. To do this you can use Hootsuite’s native RSS feature to publish to your Facebook and LinkedIn feeds.

To set up auto publishing with Hootsuite’s native RSS feature, hover over settings in the launch menu, and select RSS/Atom. Click the plus button, and paste the RSS feed URL into the “feed url” text field. Select the profile you’d like to publish the blog posts to, then choose the time interval you’d like Hootsuite to check for new content.

AutoPublisher App

If you want to auto-publish to Twitter as well as Facebook, you’ll need to download the paid RSS AutoPublisher app from the Hootsuite App Directory. Once installed, create a new stream for AutoPublisher and enter the URL for your chosen RSS feed. Then, select the networks you’d like to publish to, specify how often you’d like the stream to check for new content, and how many posts should be published at once. You can set up multiple RSS URLs in the same stream, with different settings for each. AutoPublisher checks for new posts as quickly as every minute, making it especially valuable for those working in industries with breaking news.

Syndicator App

Not everyone wants to automatically publish articles from RSS feeds they follow. If you’d simply like to curate content and then hand pick pieces to publish, download the paid Syndicator app from Hootsuite App Directory.

Once installed, navigate to the Syndicator Stream and click the Subscribe to Feeds button.

Syndicator gives tons of control when viewing content in your Hootsuite Streams, including a search feature to locate the most common RSS feeds. Each Syndicator stream can source articles from a combination of feeds, which you can then reshare using the available action options.
