Reports in Hootsuite Analytics are fully customizable collections of analytics data. Each Report has a flexible, interactive interface that lets you drag-and-drop an unlimited number of “tiles”, which are individual displays of a specific metric. 

Like tiles, the number of reports you can create within Hootsuite Analytics is unlimited. Once you’ve created your Reports, the complicated task of reporting is essentially on autopilot. When getting started with Reports, you can either use existing Templates, OR Custom Reports, which you can tailor to include the exact metrics you want. 

Templates

Templates are preset collections of tiles, organized by network; they are especially handy if you’re still figuring out what analytics are best to monitor. Pre-built Templates can collect analytics in three areas: ‘Publishing’, or how your content is performing, ‘Audience’, which gives insight into your followers, and ‘Engagement’, which accounts for actions taken on your posted content. 

Once you’ve selected a Template, you can drag and drop tiles to different locations, or edit the template as a whole. You can change the name of your Report, which is useful for staying organized. Click the top gear to edit the template, or delete Reports by clicking the trash can.

Adjusting Tiles

To adjust specific data within a report click the gear in an individual tile. You can rename it and choose your preferred graph type. When looking at the data in a specific tile, you may notice that it only shows a “top three”. For example, you may only see the top three Facebook reactions a post has received. Click to change the visualization to a list which shows all the data points instead. 

Your report can be further customized by adding more tiles. 

Custom Reports

If you’re a more advanced user, and know exactly what you want to track, create a Custom Report. This is a blank slate, where you add only the metrics you need. Custom Reports can be useful for creating different sets of analytics data for different stakeholder groups, each with their own specific needs. They’re also a great way to combine data from different networks into one master report.

Scheduling Reports

You can export the data from an analytics report in a variety of formats. These exports can also be scheduled for automated email delivery.
