Video Transcript | Intro

Welcome to the Hootsuite Inbox. Inbox is a tool to help you manage your social conversations in one place. Inbox has three areas: conversation details, list of conversations, and different views you can filter your Inbox by. In this video, we’ll introduce you to Inbox and show you how to get the most out of this powerful new tool.

If you are using Inbox for the first time, it’s best to re-authenticate your connected social accounts to ensure Hootsuite can display all your conversations. Admins can re-authenticate by going to the Manage Social Networks settings page then selecting the profile settings of your social network.

On the left of the detail view, is the list of conversations you have in your Inbox. It contains all conversation from your connected social networks. There’s a mix of public conversations, like this LinkedIn example, as well as private conversations. Private messages show all the back and forth between a person and a brand, so you can see the full context of a conversation.

Within the detail view, each conversation is focused on a single person at a time. For public content, you see the relevant conversation between that person and your brand, as well as the post that started the conversation. Every person who engages with your brand’s public content will have their own item in Inbox, so you can be confident no activity was missed.

After reviewing a conversation, and understanding the context around it, you can act on it in three ways: replying to comments or messages, assigning the conversation to yourself or a colleague to engage with later, or dismissing the conversation if no action is required.

You can find the conversations you want to act on by sorting and filtering your messages, or changing your view in Inbox. The sort feature changes the order of the conversation list from most recent to the oldest.

You can also filter the conversation list by social networks so you only see conversations from accounts that are relevant.  And finally, you can view conversations that are Assigned, Assigned to You, or are Done, which includes both Dismissed and Resolved messages
